Long cross voided with each limb ended in
three crescents, pellet in centre. Text around
BIRHTIOD MO RINI (Byrhtnoth Moneyer at Winchester).
History:
This rare Viking coin is copied from the English
Long Cross Pennies of Aethelred II. Phase
I pennies were minted in Dublin, Ireland and
often copy the legends as well as the design
of the English coins. This coin has an Irish
obverse and an English reverse.
