Reverse: St. George's Cross and the Irish Harp in shields with XII above, encircled with dots. Text around 1653 GOD WITH VS.

History: After the execution of Charles I a republican coinage was produced with no face of a ruler. For the first time in the history of English coinage the inscriptions were in English and not Latin.
