Reverse:
Crowned cruciform shields, sceptres at angles,
two pairs of cruciform interlinked C's at
centre. Text around MAG BR FRA ET HIB REX.
Date either side of crown above English shield.
History:
The provenance marks of the elephant located
below the monarch's bust denote that the bullion
for the coin was supplied to the Mint by the
Royal African Company who imported it from
Guinea. This is where the 'Guineas' coins
also got their name.
