Obverse: Draped bust of Faustina I right. Text around DIVAAVGVS TAFAVSTINA.

Reverse: Faustina seated in carpentum facing right, holding torch and corn ears, in carriage, drawn right by two elephants with riders. Text at top EX SC.

History: Faustina I (the Senior) married Antoninus Pius around AD 110. Her death on AD 140 was deeply mourned by Antoninus despite widely circulating rumors of her being unfaithful to him. This is a posthumous issue struck under Antoninus Pius.
