History: Due to Pertinax's short term as emperor these aureus are very rare. After the murder of Commodus, Pertinax was made emperor in January 193, but his reforms and economies enraged the soldiery, especially the Praetorians, and in a mutiny they invaded the palace and murdered him on 28 March, 193 after a reign of only eighty-six days.
