History:
Hadrian had various and continual journeys
amongst the provinces of the Roman world.
He made these excursions with the sanction
of the Senate and these were chronologically
recorded in a series of coins. This coin is
the last in the series where Hadrian, the
re-establisher of so many component portions
of the vast empire is designated as ‘Restorer
of the (Roman) World’.
