History:
This is a beautiful and rare full size 22ct
gold plated reproduction of the famous Liberty
head twenty dollar (double eagle) gold coin
dated 1864 as minted during the American Civil
War. The originals, designed by James B. Longacre,
were first struck in pure gold by the U.S.
mint in 1849 and were produced until 1904.
Early originals such as this are very rare
and much sought after.
