History:
The Vindeliker were a Celtic tribe located
in the Alps between Lake Constance and Inn,
one of their most important cities was located
at Manching. This coin is known as a Regenbogenschüsselchen
or rainbow cup stater. It gets its name from
its shape and also after the legend, according
to which the coins pointed to the contact
of a rainbow on the earth as the coins were
often found after rainfalls on a ploughed
field.
