(reverse) Britannia holding the flag and a
laurel crown towards a large group of soldiers,
with warships offshore. The words SOUTH AFRICA
are inscribed around the top.

Comments:
This medal was issued to British and Imperial
forces for service in South Africa between
11th October 1899 and 31st May 1902. It was
also issued to nurses and war correspondents,
which set precedents for later wars.
