History: Fortuna was the Roman goddess of fate and luck. The ship's rudder signifys safety in travel and the cornucopia represents all good things from the harvest. On this coin Fortuna Redux refers to Hadrian's safe return after frequent absences abroad, and to the general strength and security of his government at home.
